Description

NOTICE Journal, Volume One is the inaugural release in an ongoing series of photo books, each exploring its own unique sub-theme while interconnected by the concept of noticing—recognizing the small, often overlooked moments in life that hold significant meaning when we take the time to observe.

Volume One uses spring as a metaphor for rebirth, reflecting on how photography can aid in processing life’s major transitions. Captured entirely in Amsterdam on black-and-white film, these images document a transformative period in my life, aiming to resonate with your own experiences of life’s ups and downs.

Wesley Verhoeve is a photographer, curator, and writer based in Amsterdam.

He is the author of NOTICE and NOTICE Journal – Volume One, and publishes Process, a weekly newsletter about photography and creative work.

His photography focuses on human stories rooted in craft, curiosity, and community, and has appeared in publications like The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Wired, and de Volkskrant.

As the founding curator of the Projected series at the International Center of Photography in New York City, he was responsible for 96 exhibitions featuring 300+ photographers from 53 countries.
